Which specialists work at Bethesda Hospital?

Our specialists can be found here.

When are visiting hours?

In line with directives from the WA government, visitors are currently not permitted at the hospital.

Riviera Surgical Ward – 2:00pm to 8:00pm

Bayview Palliative Ward – 10:00am to 8:00pm

Day Procedure Unit – no visitors due to social distancing

Should I fast before coming into hospital?

Your doctor may give you special instructions to follow before your procedure. These instructions are especially important to follow when relating to medications and fasting.  If you are asked to fast, it means you must abstain from eating or drinking any fluids for a set period of time before your procedure.

Will my health insurance fund cover my procedure?

It is important you speak with your health fund before your procedure to confirm your eligibility, level of cover and liability for any excesses or out-of-pocket expenses that may occur. If you do not have private health insurance, you will be required to pay the estimated bed and operating fees on admission. Please note you may use some services during your stay that are not covered by your health insurance, namely allied health services such as physiotherapy and pharmacy.

Do you have WiFi?

Yes. Patients and visitors can access the hospital WiFi. The instructions will be given to you on arrival or can be found in the Patient Directory on your side table.

Will I have a single or shared room?

Bethesda has a combination of single and shared rooms. We will always endeavour to provide you with your room preference based on your level of private health insurance. Single rooms will be allocated on clinical need and cannot be guaranteed.

What time will I be discharged?

The time of your discharge is at the discretion of your doctor. Our focus is to help you leave the hospital as soon as you are ready and able.

Where can I pick up a patient to take them home?

Bethesda has a number of 15 minute pick up and drop off bays outside the main entrance. If you are picking up a patient on the Riviera or Bayview Ward who requires assistance, you may go up to the ward to collect them.

Do I have to be of Christian faith to have a procedure at Bethesda?

No. Bethesda is focussed on providing quality and compassionate care to those in need, from all religious and cultural backgrounds.

How do I access my health information?
